Suspended Series
My son, who is autistic, has an intense fascination of enormous leaves — what we lovingly call “Monster Giants” or “Big Whoas.” Our home often becomes a sanctuary (and sometimes a battleground) for these decaying botanical treasures: in the playroom, the fridge, even the bathroom. This ongoing collection is both wondrous and disorienting. In contrast, water is where I find clarity and space. It offers a counterbalance — a place to breathe.
In this series "Suspened" I visually represents this duality: On full display is both my son’s passion for leaves along with my need for water. The leaf’s surface features an inscription of the text from the Voynich Manuscript, a medieval document written in an undeciphered language. For me, this script symbolizes all that makes perfect sense to my son — rich with meaning and logic — even if it is not yet fully understood by others. The water cradles the leaf, just as I strive to hold space for both my son’s world and my own. (2025- present)
